Hot 'n' humid
The disgusting weather continues, but at least there is some evidence of a few birds starting to appear. A flock of 114 Sanderling was unexpected, with 6 Black-tailed Godwits, 3 Whimbrel, 1 Greenshank and a Common Sandpiper further evidence of wader passage.
Equally entertaining was the sight of 400+ gulls (mainly Black-headed) & 260 Swallows feeding on newly emerged flying ants. It was also nice to see lots of people in garish clothes leaving rapidly as the insects descended on them from on high. Useful tip - wear dark colours on sunny July afternoons. Heh, heh!

You have a wonderful blog here, being of Scotish decent and recently retired I hope to visit Scotland soon. It is great to know that I can get in my birding fix while I'm there.
